Bay Area Beats: JMSN at The Independent + Opener Snoh Aalegra

R&B artist JMSN sold out his June 22 show at the Independent with opener Snoh Aalegra, the first of a two-night-stand at the venue. Snoh Aalegra is an up-and-coming Swedish talent with Persian roots. Her timeless, lounge-influenced style is one fringe dress and a Delorian ride away from serenading whiskey drinkers at an underground Prohibition-era speakeasy or Jay Gatsby’s latest party. And that’s definitely a good thing.

JMSN’s live performance never disappoints, and this time he was backed by a full band to bring his setlist of hits to life in dynamic fashion. Soulful vocals, funky breakdowns, and extended jams went past midnight and the crowd kept up the whole time. Just don’t call it PBR&B, JMSN is way more intoxicating than that.
