Walking into the Catherine Kwong design studio, the atmosphere comes off as three things: elegant, effortless, and VERY chic. Represented in her personal style and work — Catherine herself embodies what it's like to live stylish.
Starting her career in the heart of New York, Catherine began designing luxury interiors for Studio Sofield and flagship stores for Ralph Lauren. After year of creating in the city that never sleeps, she moved home to her beloved San Francisco, and Catherine Kwong Design was open for business in 2011. The Kwong design can be found with touches all over the city ranging from Jackson Square (her home) to Presidio Heights. "I have worked on interior design projects all over the world, some of which have been featured in Architectural Digest, Town and Country, and House Beautiful, among others. I have also had the opportunity to work for and learn from such legendary designers as Bill Sofield, Ralph Lauren, and Paul Vincent Wiseman" Catherine told us.
For mother, wife, and business owner — Catherine likes to keep her work space clean and organized... When she can help it, "here, we put all the things that we like and that inspire us, such as fabrics, wallpaper, all kinds of texture. The menu at one of my favorite restaurants in New York is permanent." Her space along with her colleagues brim with an all-white interior that's straight out of a design magazine. Because duh.
So what is the ethos of this design maven? Afresh approach to elegant, tailored interiors-mixing modern with vintage; high art with personal treasures- to create moments of unexpected beauty.
In 2015, Catherine was named "Designer to Watch" by Architectural Digest. This kind of recognition has set her apart from most design firms in the city.
