You don't need a golden ticket to attend this chocolate tour.
If Domenico Ghirardelli was San Francisco’s own Willy Wonka, then the upcoming 22nd Annual Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival is the closest this city can get to an annual factory tour. Tickets range from $20-50, with the option to purchase either a Chocolate Tasting Ticket or a Chocolate Lounge ticket.
The former will net you 15 chocolate samples, while the latter tacks on an extra 12 samples from inside the Chocolate Lounge. In addition to plenty of tastings, attendees will be able to view live culinary demonstrations, courtesy of chefs from Liholiho Yacht Club and Finn Town. Children and adults are welcome to sink their teeth into ice cream sundae eating contests to the tune of live musical entertainment.
The best part is, 100% of the festival’s profits will be donated to Project Open Hand, an organization that provides food and compassion to people living with HIV/AIDS, home-bound and critically ill people, and seniors in San Francisco. The festival attracts 40,000 visitors from the Bay Area.
// Saturday and Sunday, 9/9-9/10/2017 at Ghirardelli Square between noon-5 PM; tickets can be bought on Eventbrite.
