Good news to everyone who loves a good vindaloo—Indian cuisine and counter service are now married and happily residing in Oakland.
If you love DOSA, meet dosa by DOSA—a seven-days-a-week spot that will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Walking in for the first time, you’ll be greeted by a dosa grill in an open kitchen. The 3,600 square foot space was designed to reflect the energy of an open air market in India. The bar will serve up hot masala chai, lassi, freshly squeezed sugarcane juice and espresso drinks during the day and unique, spice-driven cocktails at night. Imagine liquid treats such as the Swank slushie (cane Juice, lime, pineapple, coconut, green curry leaf, vodka) and the Hibiscus Cooler (Lo-Fi Gentian, orange juice, passion fruit, ginger, lemon, optional dark rum float).
As for the menu itself, expect to choose from signature dosas, grilled Indian rotis and choose-your-own-adventure rice bowls. If you’re on a soon-to-be-January health kick, opt for a protein rich, spiced salad like the Tandoori Lamb Kebab salad or the Coconut Kale Mung salad.
Better still, dosa by DOSA serve breakfast daily from 8-11AM for all your hangover needs. An Egg & Cheese Dosa or South Indian Pongal on the menu to kickstart your day. Also keep an eye out for ongoing live events planned with local musicians, speakers, comedians and DJ’s.
// Hive, 2301 Broadway, Oakland, Open daily 8 A.M.—10 P.M.; dosabydosa.com.
