The Michelin Round-Up: SF Now Has More Stars Than NYC

The Michelin Round-Up: SF Now Has More Stars Than NYC

With the saddening news of the North Bay fires, Michelin put a delay on releasing stars until the tragedy was a bit more under control.

In a release on October 11, the company acknowledged "we understand this is a time for grief and recovery, not celebration," and they announced a donation to the Red Cross "in honor of the restaurants, wineries and communities affected by the wildfires." As Eater notes, this was the first time that the venerated guide had made any kind of postponement since it first began publishing US guidebooks in 2005.

But big news: Coi rises to three stars, meaning that at least for a few days, and possibly for the next year, San Francisco has more three-star restaurants than New York for the first time in history, after tying at six last year.

So without further ado, congratulate your locals on their hard work. Ranging from back of house to front of house, everyone deserves to be honored.

Below, the new listing (new or elevated in bold).
