Safe Travels: Introducing the TSA-Friendly Cocktail Kits from Bitters + Bottles

image

Bitters + Bottles, a specialty spirits shop on Grand Ave in South San Francisco is a verifiable adult candy store. Located only a few miles away from SFO, this home bar stockist has come up with an ingenious kit to make your flight a bit more pleasurable.

The shop is every bit inviting as you might expect; warm, bright, airy, with a slight industrial shop feel with its pegboard displays, shelves made of pipes and a well-worn counter that looks every bit of its age, (the 110 year old building used to be a hardware & liquor store). The staff there is incredibly knowledgeable and carries everything you need to stock your home bar from jiggers, to muddlers, to habanero syrup, to 7 different types of Fernet (take that BevMo!)

Being so close to the airport, the team at B+B would often hear from customers about how they wished they could have a proper drink on a flight, or how they could never take a particular spirit to their final destination without checking a bag. Enter their travel-friendly cocktail kit for two, which include TSA friendly bottles, and everything you need to make a proper Sling, or Brown Derby, or the White Russian which would really tie your trip together, dude.

There are currently 14 available kits which range from $19-24, come in a reusable burlap satchel and  include enough to make two drinks, mixers,  a spoon to mix it all up with and a paper jigger, all that one needs is ice and a cup! The drinks range from the more traditional, like the Brown Derby, to the experimental like the Mango Lassi which includes a yogurt liqueur, mint rum, mango vodka, and cardamom bitters.

This isn’t their first inventive product kit either; Bitters + Bottles also has a monthly subscription box. Prepay or pay as you go and cancel at any time, the box $89 includes 4-6 full sized quality ingredients, waterproof cards with 5 classic cocktail recipes and an additional 10 recipes which teach you how to master the classics and be knowledgeable enough to create your own.

// Bitters + Bottles also holds tastings every Thursday from 4:30-6:30. Up next is June 23 where Corbin Sweet Potato Liqueur, Blended Whisky and Rye is on the menu(, June 30 is Capurro Pisco). It’s absolutely worth the trip out to South San Francisco to find this kind of selection, as well as being able to chat with the extremely knowledgeable and charming spirit guides there.
