Bringing in more local treasures, SFO and Virgin America are stepping up their drink menu with the popularity of Smuggler Cove's bomb as hell libations.
For 2017, owner and tiki-aficionado Martin Cate, has something up his Hawaiian-print sleeve. At the end of last week, Cate announced a partnership with airline Virgin Atlantic, to bring some tropical flair to their member "clubhouses."
"For the duration of 2017, Smuggler's Cove has entered into a partnership with Virgin Atlantic Airways to serve our cocktails at their Upper Class Clubhouse locations around the world," a representative of the bar wrote on its Facebook page.
How this will work is that Smuggler's Cove and other bars from the World's 50 Best Bars list (they're at number 29) will be adding six drinks to each bar's local clubhouse. Flyers in Virgin America's clubhouse status can visit during their layover in SFO to sample the tiki cocktails that bring hundreds upwards of thousands to the bar weekly. Though if you're looking for bites, Cate's gin bar White Chapel will be the one to talk too.
Now we're just waiting to see the in-club photos of a tiki bowl blowing up in someone's face. Queue the scared faced Instagram snaps.
