Rituals have claimed that it is cruelty-free and does not test on animals. Some countries require animal testing by law, rituals don’t allow their product to be tested on animals. They claim that: Rituals are cruelty-free and they do not test their product on animals. Neither their product nor the ingredient of the product is tested on animals. They also don’t allow third-party to test their products on animals. This is their vision since the foundation of the company. They have enthusiastic volunteers and friends to test the products, it’s their alternative to test the products. 

About China’s animal testing:

Rituals do not sell their products on the mainland of China as they require animal testing. 

They sell their products in Hong Kong and it is not part of main China, And it doesn’t have the same law as china to test their products on animals. 

Cruelty-free can be mean differently to different people. It usually applies to the fact that cruelty-free refer as no animal testing. Ritual claimed to be the 100% cruelty-free company but it’s not 100% vegan-free. Their products are not being tested on animals, for the alternative, they have volunteers and dermatologists to test their products. But their product’s ingredients are not vegan, few of the beauty products need the extraction from animals to be made. So, we can say that it’s not 100% vegan but some products fall under the category of vegan.

Why Cruelty-free products can not be sold in China?

There are stores in the mainland of China that require animal testing. Though, many cruelty-free cosmetic companies face issues in China. In China, there is a pre-market test is being done before the product will sell in their market on the mainland. But rituals are strictly up against animal testing and do not allow any animal testing so, as a result, their product is only being sold in Hong Kong and not in the mainland of China.

INGREDIENTS OF COSMETIC PRODUCT:

There are some common ingredients in cosmetic products that are made from the extraction for animals like snail mucus, carmine, honey, pearl, beeswax, glycerin, keratin. All these are necessary for cosmetic products. This can be quite difficult to identify whether the product is vegan or not just by going through its ingredients. So, to make sure the best is to ask the manufacturer of the company about the product’s ingredient and know the product is cruelty-free and vegan or not.
