Ready yourselves for a whimsical weekend full of all the best things life has to offer—kites, free ballet in the great outdoors, and obviously, Star Wars. Fingers crossed that Karl the Fog is on vacation this time around.
Let’s go fly a kite
When: Saturday and Sunday, July 28-29th, 10 A.M.
Where: Caesar Chavez Park, Berkeley
Why: Earth, wind, and sky are combining to create an unequaled festival experience this weekend - the Berkeley Kite Festival. Bring your own or just enjoy the beauty of all those kites in the sky. You can also make your own kite and take kite flying lessons! Better yet, leave your parking troubles behind - there’s a free shuttle from Golden Gate Fields, and free bike valet parking! // Free to attend, more info here.
In a symphony hall far, far away
When: Through August 3rd
Where: Davies Symphony Hall
Why: This is one of those not-so-rare opportunities to fully geek out in San Francisco. The San Francisco Symphony is screening all three original Star Wars trilogy movies with a live orchestra. Kylo Ren is totes not invited, but you are! // See full showing times and options here.
Ballet that’s more than your aunt dragging you to The Nutcracker every year
When: Sunday, 7/29 at 2 P.M.
Where: Stern Grove, San Francisco
Why: Stern Grove Festival is awesome, as we all know, but ballet weekend is a spectacular spectacle of its own. Convene in the early afternoon to get a good spot, lay out, and watch the San Francisco Ballet perform a selection of works from their current repertory. // This event is free to attend, but donations are welcome here.
